Starting with a handful number of students and a few teachers with meager public donations, the college has now attained for it the status and magnitude of being supported by the State Government and UGC. Despite its rural background, the college has had its steady evolution to a position when it may be bracketed with the premier institutions of the state. It is true, there is a general decline in the inflow of the students in the institutions imparting general education, yet Biswanath College has been trying its best to attract the students by opening professional courses. For the present, it has started with Functional English course and Spoken English for all the intending students. It has already submitted proposal to the UGC for introduction of as many as ten more vocational courses in both Arts and Science streams. The recently started Career Counseling and Guidance cell is seen to have played a vital role in attracting the students to the college by offering exposure to different avenues of higher education as well as prospect for jobs. Taking in view the point of generating funds, the college has been planning and putting into practice of earning for itself revenues by way of agricultural farming, vegetables, citronella, patchouli and mushroom culture and cultivation. In addition to this, the Alumni Association of the college has started with fund raising drive. In the current session itself, it has been able to earn an amount of Rs.5000.00 (Rupees five thousand) only, and is expected to fare better in foreseeable future. The Post Graduate Contact Centre of the college is also earning a sizeable amount and it is hoped in future it will embolden the college fund.

As for the generation of knowledge, the college has adopted measures to enhance the proficiency of the teachers by motivating them to undertake research works, pursuance of further studies, participations in Orientation and Refresher courses, as well as conferences, seminar and workshops in and outside the college. The healthy symptom to this aspect is that teachers’ responses to such programmes have always been encouraging. Vis-à-vis the teaching staffs, the non-teaching staffs are also encouraged to enhance their professional skill.

Of the infrastructure facilities, the previous inadequacies in various fields have been minimized to the extent of only a separate reading room in the library, a computer centre for the students and a few more class rooms.

The annual self-appraisal of both teaching and non-teaching staffs has been made compulsory and the process of faculty evaluation by students, alumni and guardians is on the anvil so as to make the teachers and the employees accountable to the institution and the society by way of ensuring quality education. With effective teaching-learning process and continuous evaluation, the institution expects to provide quality education to the students. Finally, there is Internal Quality Assurance cell in the college to look after quality aspects of the institution with a holistic approach and it is hoped that the college will flourish and move towards progress in all respects in a steady pace. Far from getting ourselves contented and complacent with what we have achieved so far, we are on a constant drive to undertake the hazardous challenges of time in the face of the rapid globalization of quality education.
