The Zoology department of biswanth college situated at biswanath chariali , assam was established in the year 1976. It has completed 34 years of its glorious existence. There are about 7 Lecturers in the teaching staff and all are well experienced and well versed in their subjects. Besides the teaching staff there are some bearers to maintain all the laboratory works. At present Mr Arun Sarma is the Head of the department. The department has a staff room well established laboratories spacious class room and a well equipped museum where diff kinds of species of Fishes and other animals are found.

The zoology department has made a name for itself in the field of academic excellence under the lecturer's able direction , hard work and dedication the department has been obtaining excellent results over the last few years. Most of them were able to secure first class obtaining 70%, every year from the department of zoology students and teachers used to go for educational tours which helps students to gain further knowledge in different fields. And recently in the year 2010 the department also organized a National seminar on Pisciculture sponsored by UGC.

In conclusion we can say that the establishment of the department of zoology in biswanath college serves the purpose of the science study in the localities in near future we can hope the better results of the department and for this the teaching staff and under employees of the department should try their level best.
