Mission, goal and vision:

The main objective of the department is to impart fair knowledge of Geography to the students. It is also hoped that some of the students will find Geography interesting and worthy of study. Such students will continue to study Geography in higher level and at the end of the course some of them will take up such profession as Geography teachers in various educational institutions, government jobs, tea industries, etc. As Geography is an optional subject in various competitive examinations, students will do well by doing Geography as one of the elective subjects.

The future goal of the department is to introduce Major course which will help the students of the college pursue higher studies in the subject after completion of the Degree course.

Other activities of the department:

In addition to the normal teaching both in class-room and laboratory, the departmental teachers involved themselves in guiding the students in field-trips, educational excursion and doing survey works. Other departmental activities include seminars, discussions and quiz competitions. A wall-magazine titled ‘Bhu-Darshan’ is being published by the students of the department.
