Biswanath College , located in an ideal setting .is all set to realize as a seat of academic in excellence in years to come . The College holds a pride among Academic institutions of the state particularly in the vast area of the northern Part of the river Brahmaputra and the eastern part of the river Bharali of sonitpur District of Asom. Established on 7th September ,1960, it has grown from humble beginning to a place of strength.

This College is the brain child of a concerted enterprise of a group of enthusiastic people who dreamt to see their children blessed with light of learning. Their  untiring and relentless will power made their dream fulfilled. The College was brought under deficit system of Grants-In-Aid On April 01, 1963.         The Science Stream of Biswanath College was  started with Pre-University classes in 1970. Degree Science classes were started in 1976 and the science stream was accorded status of deficit Grants-In-Aid On January 1,1978. Subsequently Biswanath College was brought under provincialisation system w.e.f. December 1, 2005 .

Biswanath College has been accredited with “B” Grade by NAAC (NATIONAL ASSESSMENT & ACCREDITATION COUNCIL) in 2004.
